Anthem
This anthem combines “The Lord’s Prayer” with two melodies used for the spirituals “Steal Away” and “Steal Away and Pray.” The opening is the initial request while the text from the book of Matthew is set to the two spirituals. The first spiritual is only in the chorus with the altered text while the second spiritual is unchanged in the solo line.
Hear our prayer, hear our prayer, hear our cry unto Thee.

Steal away from all troubles and cares and pray like He taught us to pray:
Our Father which art in heav’n, hallowed be Thy name.
